Berlin - A Divided City

This aerial photo, with the Berlin Wall in place, shows how the city was divided during the Cold-War era. 

Walking through the Brandenburg Gate - long a city landmark where people could stroll, at will, on a summer's day - was no longer possible during the years of the wall.
