300 - Xerxes and His Immortals, Archers

This image, of archers, is from a freize originally located at the palace of Xerxes in Susa (one of the Persian Empire's four capital cities).  It is now maintained at the Louvre in Paris.  Scholars believe the freize depicts members of Xerxes' personal bodyguard (called the Immortals).
