Auschwitz - Confiscated Prayer ShawlsWhen religious Jews arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau, their prayer shawls (referred to as tallesim, tallitot) were confiscated. When the Red Army liberated the death camp, in January of 1945, troops found these shawls in an Auschwitz warehouse.
