Battle of Iwo Jima - First Airfield Captured

With the fierce battle still raging, Marines captured one of Iwo Jima’s airfields. Before long, crippled B-29s were able to safely land.

This clip is from the last part of a documentary, To the Shores of Iwo Jima (1945).  Produced by the U.S. Government Office of War Information, it was an Academy-Award nominee for best documentary (and uses language from the 1940s).
