Benedict Arnold, 1776 - Colonel in Continental Army

In 1776, Benedict Arnold was a Colonel in the Continental Army.  Thomas Hart issued this portrait - a mezzotint engraving - in London during March of that year.  It is entitled:  "Col Arnold who Commanded the Provincial Troops Sent to Quebec Through the Wilderness of Canada and was Wounded in Storming that City Under General Montgomery." 

The original plate of the engraving is at the British Museum.
