Berlin - Final Battle for the City Begins in April, 1945On the 16th of April, 1945, the Soviet Army begins its final assault of World War II. Their objective is to attack Berlin, forcing the city to surrender. Inside his bunker, Hitler has two weeks left to live before he commits suicide, knowing the war is lost. This is part one of five clips, produced by the History Channel, on the Battle of Berlin. It includes interviews with Soviet soldiers and German civilians who recall the ferocious, deadly battle.
