Billy Tyne - Captain of the Andrea Gail

Billy Tyne was the captain of the Andrea Gail during her last voyage. After the "Perfect Storm" developed, in late October of 1991, he and his crew were in serious trouble. At 2 p.m., on the 28th of October, Billy sent his last message: "She's comin' on boys, and she's comin' on strong."

At least one Canadian weather buoy reported waves of 30.5 meters (99.735 feet) near the coordinates where Billy last reported his location. Neither the Andrea Gail, nor her crew, were found after the storm was over.

George Clooney played the role of Billy Tyne in The Perfect Storm, a film released in 2000.
