Boris Godunov Coronation - Tsar of All the Russians

This scene is the beginning of Boris Godunov, the famous opera (in Four Acts and a Prologue) by M.P. Mussorgsky. From the Prologue, scene 1, it is "The Coronation," recreating what it might have been like to actually watch the new tsar formally take power.

This video clip is from a performance at the Bolshoi Theater, in Moscow. Godunov is played by Evgeny Nesterenko. The production is directed by B. Khaykin.
