Charles Dickens - 1842

Charles Dickens, as he appeared in 1842, the year he traveled to America and met Laura Bridgman.  Soon thereafter, he wrote his book - American Notes - which Helen Keller's mother read in 1886.

It was the Bridgman story in that book, among other things, which caused the Kellers to seek help for their daughter.
