Chinon - Joan of Arc Meets the DauphinThis is a view of Chinon, a Loire Valley town of 10,000 on the banks of the river Vienne. It was here that Joan of Arc identified the Dauphin, Charles VII, even though she had never met him. The chateau, rising above the town, was once the residence of Henry II, King of England, when this part of France was under English control. It was also home of the Dauphin, in the early 1400s, before he was crowned Charles VII.
