Churchill - The Gathering Storm, Part 3

Despite the debt which the Churchills have incurred, purchasing their home called Chartwell, Churchill tells his wife he would die defending it.  The view of England, which they can see from their home, gives the future Prime Minister great encouragement as he slogs his way through the political uncertainties of the day.

At the time, it wasn't quite clear to everyone what Nazisim meant.  But growing concerns about Hitler, and what he could mean for the future of Europe, greatly troubled Churchill and some of his colleagues.

Speaking in the Commons, Churchill was rebuffed by disbelievers who thought he was a warmonger.  Surely ... Hitler and Germany wanted peace - didn't they?

Not everyone agrees with Churchill's analysis of events leading up to the war.  See, for example, this article by Professor John Charmley.
