Churchill - The Gathering Storm, Part 5

With information leaked to him from the Foreign Office, Winston confronts the Commons with "facts and figures" regarding the build-up of arms in Germany.  "The true scale of German rearmament" is proceeding rapidly.  Parts of airplanes are being built, in various parts of the country, and then assembled in a place where the local population is growing by leaps and bounds.

To calm his nerves, and keep away what he calls the "black dog" (melancholia, in other words), Winston paints.  To have a little space of her own, Clemmie would like to go on an expedition with a family friend.  That suggestion, however does not sit very well with Churchill.

Not everyone agrees with Churchill's analysis of events leading up to the war.  See, for example, this article by Professor John Charmley.
