Combat - Battle of Thermopylae

Combat, at the time of the battle of Thermopylae, was hand-to- hand.  Wave after wave of Immortals died at the hands of the Spartans.  The Persians were not prepared for this type of fighting, and Xerxes was not pleased. 

As the battle at the "Hot Gates" continued, and more and more men were injured or died, the elite troops were left.  The Spartan 300 would fight to the death.
