Conquests of Cyrus - Founder of the Persian Empire

Cyrus the Great (c. 600 BC – 530 BC) was the founder of the Persian Empire under the Achaemenid dynasty.  This map depicts the extent of his conquests from the base of his homeland in today's Iran.

Using the names of modern countries, Cyrus' empire stretched (approximately) from  Turkey, Palestine, and Armenia (in the west) to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Indus River (in the east).  Under his rule, Persia became the largest empire the world had ever seen (up to that point in time).
