Endeavour - Launch of STS-127, 15 July 2009This NASA video depicts the launch of Endeavour as it begins its STS-127 mission. During the shuttle's ascent, pieces of foam from the external fuel tank broke loose, causing NASA officials to be concerned about possible damage to the orbiter's heat tiles. Of note, in this video, are the following segments: 4:08 - 4:12 - At about the time the solid rocket booster is separating (on the left side of the video), debris appears to be falling from the top to bottom (on the right side). 7:50 - While still attached to the external fuel tank, the orbiter swivels (so it can communicate with tracking and relay satellites). 10:43 - Orbiter separates from the external fuel tank. A note about the solid-rocket boosters which fall away. They are recovered, from the Atlantic Ocean, and are reused in future shuttle missions.
