Norman Conquest of BritainWilliam the Conqueror landed at Pevensey (on the 28th of September, 1066) and defeated Britain's King Harold II at the Battle of Hastings (on the 14th of October, 1066). This map depicts those locations - plus the locations of other battles where Harold had previously been successful. Harold II died in the battle at Hastings.
