Lt. Herbert E. CarterLt. Herbert E. Carter was not the only flier in his family. Mildred, his wife, was the first woman in Alabama to receive her pilot's license. To this day, Carter insists that Mildred was a better pilot than he. In this photo, we see Herbert and Mildred together. At the time Red Tails was released, the former Tuskegee Airman gave an in-depth interview to several news agencies, including this one to CNN. He is also featured in a documentary entitled "In Their Own Words: The Tuskegee Airmen." Click on the image for a better view.
