Lusitania - Torpedoed by U-20

At 13:20 Greenwich Mean Time, on the 7th of May 1945, Captain Schwieger ordered a G-type torpedo to be loaded into a forward tube.  Then, watching the potential prey through his binoculars, Schwieger was stunned. In his log, Schwieger notes, "the ship turns to starboard then takes a course to Queenstown."  It became a deadly maneuver.

Schwieger ordered his crew to fire.  While en route, the torpedo was spotted by a Lusitania lookout.  After a journey of less than a minute, it struck the ship’s starboard side.
