Opposition to the Stamp Act

An American colonial newspaper, from the fall of 1765, reports that people in the British colonies (including those in Canada) were ignoring the stamp act’s requirements.

Among other observations, is this: “...discovered hanging on the gallows behind the Citadel Hill [in Halifax, Nova Scotia], the effigies of a stampman ... this we are informed gave great pleasure and satisfaction to all the friends of liberty and their country there ...”
