Orders to Evacuate

After President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, Japanese-Americans living in certain areas of the country were ordered to leave their homes and close their businesses.  They were then relocated to specific areas managed by the War Relocation Authority.

This Exclusion Order, typical of the time, was directed to Japanese-Americans living in San Francisco.
