Rainforest - Where Nature Seems Like Science Fiction

Thousands of unusual species thrive in tropical rainforests.  But is it possible for a fungus to attack an insect and then grow out of the dead body it has invaded?  The answer, as depicted in this video clip, is “yes!”  

Watch the cordyceps fungus take over an ant in this scene from the BBC’s Planet Earth.  One might think it’s a clip from a science-fiction movie, but it’s actually real life in a rainforest.
