Rats in the Trenches of FranceDuring the first world war, life in the trenches of France was unbelievably difficult. Among many other problems which soldiers had to endure were the rats - they were everywhere. This video clip, part of a reconstruction of trench life from the viewpoint of a British soldier, tells us that “some of ‘em are as big as kittens.”
