How did Michelangelo transport the David to its location in the Duomo? One can only imagine what a nerve-wracking experience it must have been. One little error could have caused the statue to topple, with catastrophic results, as demonstrated in this recreated effort.
Where the statue would reside was actually a subject of great debate. Michelangelo won the argument - it was given a place of prominence.
Then ... the Pope commissions Michelangelo to create more work - including the impossibly difficult job of painting a ceiling in the Sistine Chapel.
