Samuel Gompers - "Labor's Service to Freedom"

Samuel Gompers was head of the AFL union when he gave a speech in support of America's involvement in World War I.  He believed that labor had an important interest in the conflict: 

"This war is a people's war, labor's war. The final outcome will be determined in the factories, the mills, the shops, the mines, the farms, the industries and the transportation agencies of the various countries."
