Silence in the Gorge - Painted by C. Waterhouse

Charles H. Waterhouse, an artist as well as a Marine Colonel, painted this scene from the Battle of Iwo Jima.  He was a young man during the battle, just like most of the other Marines who fought at Iwo Jima:

"Silence in the Gorge," an acrylic painting on masonite by Col Charles H. Waterhouse, USMCR (Ret), who as private first class was wounded during the battle.
