Surrender - At the McLean Home

General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia to General Ulysses S. Grant on the 9th of April, 1865. 

The official proceedings took place in this house - the home of Wilmer and Virginia McLean - in the town of Appomattox Court House, Virginia.
