300 - Battlefield at Thermopylae
After the Greeks were betrayed by Ephialtes, the battle between Leonidas (with his 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians) and Xerxes (with his Immortals) expanded beyond the narrow pass at Thermopylae to include the Hill of Kolonos and the Phocian Wall Field. This is a view of Kolonos Hill, from an area that would have been part of the sea in 480 BC. Click on the image for a better view.
