PROCEED WITH CAUTION. After the Attica Prison Uprising was over, and an investigation was completed, the public learned why so many people had died. The aftermarth eventually resulted in lawsuits, filed by the families of those who were killed during the riot. It was reported that the State of New York eventually settled both lawsuits (one on behalf of the inmates and the other for the slain hostages) for the total sum of $12 million per case.
