Venice - Sestiere Dorsoduro

This is a view of the Sestiere Dorsoduro in Venice.  The city is divided into six neighborhoods.  Each neighborhood is called a "sestiere" (or, "sestieri" in the plural form).  The Grand Canal flows through the middle of the area. 

The Dorsoduro neighborhood - which incorporates the scene in this picture - is named for its comparatively stable ("hard ridge") land.
