Vikings in North America - Reconstructed Viking HomeScholars working at L'Anse aux Meadows, on Newfoundland, have reconstructed Viking homes and dwellings based on archaeological evidence at the area. This view, of a reconstructed Viking longhouse, is of Icelandic design. It incorporates a centralized fireplace (which is how Norse longhouses were heated). Smoke exits the house through roof vents.
