There I was at 23,

A graduate student of biological systems engineering.

I’ve been to Peru and Ecuador,

And wanted so much to change the world.

As I traveled and studied

I learned so much more.

I wanted to improve water sources,

And I wanted to spread technology.

But there was nothing I could do

To prevent what happened on that day.

Looking back on what had passed,

How ironic for me to have died in hydrology class.
