Emily Jane Hilscher. That's my name.

I was one of the first killed

In the shooting at Virginia Tech.


I was known for my passion for animals.

I loved them and I wanted to help them out

By becoming a veterinarian,

But that day of the shooting at Virginia Tech

My dream faded.


Now I look upon those who hurt

And try to make it less painful,

And the thing is that up here,

In this magnificent place,

They say there's no pain,

But seeing my family

And not being able to say goodbye hurts.

But all I can do is make sure

Their dreams come true.
