Virginia Tech Massacre

Mary Karen Read

8:00 a.m. My alarm goes off,

I start my day by putting

A smile on my face.

I thought this day was going to be

Just like every other day,

With laughs, jokes and smiles.

But that day the smile from my face left me

As I watched my classmates vanish

From my sight.

I awake again in a cloud of dust

And start my day off with a smile

And spread my wings and fly.

I watch my family and friends mourn over me.

I wish I could tell them

I'm the sunrise that starts their day.

I'm the cool breeze that runs through their hair,

And I am now their guardian Angel.
