home was on the banks of the Schuylkill River in what is now Philadelphia),
published Travels Through North and South Carolina.
Nearly seventy-five years later, that book was Inman’s constant companion as he fled the horrors of Civil War and made his way home to North Carolina’s
Cold Mountain.
