"National Calamity: Lincoln and Seward Assassinated"

In a frenzy, newspapers published information (some correct, some incorrect) about the assassination of President Lincoln and the attempted-assassination of Secretary Seward.

This facsimile image depicts an article from the Courier published on April 15, 1865.  It laments that "what the rebels in Richmond dare not do, their accomplices and sympathizers have accomplished in our own capitol."
