Student Stories on the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus - Preface

Welcome to the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World," a student-writing project with Sonya Turlington and her Sixth-grade language arts students (from Polk County Public Schools).

Sonya led her Davenport School of the Arts students in research and writing about the Ancient Seven Wonders. It is interesting to read what impresses each student about the wonders and to see the range of research-and-writing skills.

This story is about the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Students discovered that this is the structure which gave birth to the word "mausoleum," since it was named after the King who was entombed there.

Please enjoy all 8 stories filled with student chapters on each and all the Seven Wonders!
We are delighted to work teacher and students in research, reflection, writing, citing, and publishing! Just email us or join online.
