Ancient Lejre - Living Conditions

Ancient Lejre - Living Conditions Ancient Places and/or Civilizations Archeological Wonders Geography Legends and Legendary People World History

What was it like to live in Lejre, once the capital of an Iron-Age kingdom ruled by a legendary dynasty called Skjöldung (in Old Norse) and "Scylding" (in Old English)?

Archeological sites, which are important to the Beowulf story, still exist in Lejre (which today is the larger municipality including the town of Roskilde).

From evidence within those sites, scholars can reconstruct how people lived thousands of years ago.  This image depicts the reconstructed Iron-Age village of Lethra near the shores of Bue Lake.
