This portrait is of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Queen Elizabeth I.

When she failed to produce a male heir, for her husband, charges of treason (for other claims) were brought against her.  She was found guilty, then beheaded.

This painting is a copy of an earlier portrait, circa 1534.  It is maintained by the National Portrait Gallery, London, and on display at Hever Castle, Kent.
