Atomic Bomb View of Explosion Above Nagasaki

U.S. Military photograph depicting the explosion above Nagasaki

On the 9th of August, 1945, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb over a major Japanese city.  This time the target was Nagasaki.

In this image, we see smoke rising after the bomb (code-named “Fat Man”) had detonated.

Maintained at the U.S. National Archives, this photograph has the following description:

Atomic Cloud Rises Over Nagasaki, Japan.  08/09/1945.
