Bataan Death March - Makeshift Litters American History Famous Historical Events Social Studies World War II Visual Arts

Arriving at Camp O'Donnell meant only that the American and Filipino servicemen had survived the Bataan Death March.  Once there, many more men died.

This image depicts Americans carrying more of their fallen comrades.  The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force uses these words to describe the picture:

U.S. servicemen carry two of their dead to bury at Camp O’Donnell.
