Bessie Coleman - Stunt Pilot

Bessie Coleman - Stunt Pilot Visual Arts Biographies African American History Social Studies Aviation & Space Exploration Tragedies and Triumphs

More than anything else in her flying career, Bessie Coleman wanted to open an aviation school for African Americans.  She did not want others to have their dreams smashed, because of the color of their skin, as she nearly experienced.

Before that could happen, however, Bessie had to earn enough money to open her school.  To accomplish that goal, she flew as an exhibition stunt pilot.

In this photo, we see Bessie with her plane.
