Billy Graham - 1949 Los Angeles Tent Meeting
In 1949, Dr. Billy Graham traveled by train from Minneapolis to Los Angeles. He and his team set up a tent and planned to stay for a few weeks. With so many people gathering to hear him - and the newspapers covering the event - he stayed even longer. At the end of two months, 350,000 people had attended.
During one of those tent meetings, Louis Zamperini heard Billy Graham speak. The event changed his life.
This video clip, from a newsreel featuring the 1949 LA Crusade, gives us a sense of what happened during that time. It also depicts Dr. Graham as he appeared then.
