Black Blizzards - Depression-Era Dust Bowls Visual Arts American History Geography

Sometimes dust storms, in the normally fertile Midwest, were so bad they were called "Black Blizzards."  This photo (maintained at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library) depicts one such event, in South Dakota, during 1934.
