Boston Latin School - America's Oldest Existing School

Boston Latin School - America's Oldest Existing School American History Ethics Geography Social Studies

The Boston Latin School is the oldest existing public school in America.  It opened its doors on the 23rd of April, 1635.

The plaque in this picture commemorates the original site (since the school itself is now in a different location).

The school's motto, in Latin, is Sumus Primi.  In English, that means "we are the first."
