Cabin Built for Peter the Great

Cabin Built for Peter the Great Biographies Famous People Geography Social Studies Legends and Legendary People Russian Studies

While Peter the Great supervised the development of an island in the Neva Delta, which became the starting point of St. Petersburg, he needed a place to live.  He had Swedish carpenters build a small pine-log cabin for him which they completed in three days (between the 24th-26th of May, 1703).

This image depicts an interior room of the small cabin, which was called "The Original Palace" at the time.  It has been preserved for three centuries.
