Captain Kidd is Hanged

Captain Kidd is Hanged Crimes and Criminals Famous Historical Events Famous People Legends and Legendary People World History

Captain William Kidd met an unhappy end in 1701.  Even though the King of England had given him a Letter of Marque - allowing him to be a privateer - Kidd was accused of being a pirate.

After standing trial in 1701, Kidd was found guilty of murder and piracy.  He was hanged in London.
