Caroline Unger

Caroline Unger

Caroline Unger, a famous nineteenth-century soloist, sang the alto part in Beethoven's premiere of his Ninth Symphony.  History tells us it was Unger who turned the maestro toward the audience, so he could see their reaction to the performance.
