Discovering Electricity - Early Pioneers

In the late 17th and early 18th century, people were thinking about electricity.  Experimentalists produced it with electrostatic generators so they could entertain audiences with interesting, crowd-pleasing experiments.

Step back in time with Professor Jim Al-Khalili who introduces us to people like Francis Hauksbee.  This clip, from a BBC documentary on the "History of Electricity," features some of those long-ago experiments which stunned audiences.
