Earthquake Victims in Port-au-Prince

Earthquake Victims in Port-au-Prince Disasters World History

The January 12 earthquake was extremely deadly.  Within days after it occurred, survivors and rescuers were unable to find appropriate places to identify, and care for, the bodies of earthquake victims.

This photo - one of many by UN photographers - depicts a gruesome place outside the capital of Port-au-Prince on the 15th of January, 2010.  The UN describes this image, as follows:

A grizzly scene marks the road to mass graves where hundreds of bodies have been deposited in the wake of the devastating earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, which claimed countless lives.
