Elizabeth Packard - Bill to Protect Women

Elizabeth Packard - Bill to Protect Women

Elizabeth Packard lobbied the Illinois legislature to change the law which had harmed her and her children.  Her "Bill," approved by legislators, became the new law of the state.

This illustration, from Packard's book entitled Modern Persecution, Vol 1 (1873), depicts a scene from the Illinois-Senate-in-session (which Elizabeth Packard had attended).
